D'Antoni meets today with Knicks guard

ATLANTA -- "Nate-Gate" raged on yesterday when Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni announced after the team practice at Georgia Tech he would meet with Nate Robinson this morning and try to resolve their feud and reach a compromise on how the 5-foot-7½ guard should conduct himself on the court.
D'Antoni had yet to decide whether the Knicks' most popular player (ouai ca ca se discute.... pas sure que Lee ne soit pas plus populaire, et Galinari du coté de Brooklyn et le Queens ca doit pas etre mal non plus  enfin ca vaut pas Balkman il jouait que 10 minutes mais il mettait le FEU au Garden à chaque fois...) will play tonight against the Hawks and has left open the possibility of moving on with rookie guard Toney Douglas.
"Nate-Gate" began Wednesday night in Orlando, when D'Antoni refused to play Robinson in the 118-104 loss to the Magic as punishment for two seasons of immature antics.
It was Robinson's first DNP-CD (coach's decision) since December, 2007 and came at a bizarre time because Robinson had burned the Magic on Sunday at the Garden with a 22-point fourth quarter.
"We'll sit down, just try to sort some things out," D'Antoni said.
On a Twitter after the Orlando game, Robinson wrote about the soap opera: "I gotta make it to heaven for going through hell."
Sources say Robinson was humiliated Wednesday in Orlando and feels he often is made a scapegoat for the team's miserable 4-15 record. But Robinson yesterday sounded contrite. D'Antoni does not often meet with players formally.
"I'm definitely looking forward to it," Robinson said. "It's something I've got to go in there understanding, just try to figure out what he wants me to do and go do it. I've got to change a lot, obviously. Whatever it is, I've just got to find out what it is, change it, and be ready to play. I'm going to have to [change]. Period."
Robinson's on-court animation even when the club is getting blown out has given an impression he's not concerned enough about winning as long as he is scoring in bunches. Robinson said that is untrue, and that the avalanche of defeats the last five seasons have nearly made him cry.
"You have moments where you get emotional, you get teary-eyed, you want to express yourself," Robinson said. " You're not really going to cry, but at times you feel like crying. Me being here five years and losing, it's hard. But you have to take the good with the bad."
Eric Goodwin, who along with his brother, Aaron, represents Robinson, declined comment on "Nate-Gate."
Robinson's immature antics have grated on D'Antoni since last season, but erupted 2½ weeks ago in New Jersey when Robinson shot at his own basket -- and made it -- just after the first-quarter buzzer against the Nets. Though Robinson has been prolific since that game, his defense has remained poor and D'Antoni reached the breaking point in the win over Phoenix on Tuesday, when Robinson committed a senseless foul away from the ball on Goran Dragic after Grant Hill made a layup.
When asked if Robinson needed to change his personality, D'Antoni said: "We all have to change our approach. We don't zone in enough to overcome some weaknesses on the team. That's what we've tried to preach."
Robinson could ask for a trade if this continues because he's playing for a contract. That Robinson has a one-year deal also makes D'Antoni's potential choice to run with Douglas more palatable. But D'Antoni would be spiting himself because Robinson is the Knicks' most fiery offensive gun after Al Harrington.
If Robinson says the right things this morning, he likely will return to the rotation. But there is no more margin for error.
"It's a fluid situation in the sense that we'll talk and I'm sure he'll play some more, and I'm sure that we'll try to get it better," D'Antoni said.
"He's a talented basketball player. We need him."
DEAL IN WORKS?
Yahoo last night reported that Knicks president Donnie Walsh has talked to the Bulls about athletic but injured forward Tyrus Thomas, who has been shopped by Chicago. 
The report stated the Bulls want Al Harrington, while ex-Knick Jerome James would be thrown in -- a deal Walsh wouldn't make.
Thomas, who has a broken arm and won't be back for a couple of weeks, is a restricted free agent who's long been admired by D'Antoni. All the contracts in the deal are expiring, but the Knicks would make the deal with the idea of signing Thomas, who was selected, ironically, with the Knicks' lottery pick three years ago. |

Je pense pas que Gallinari batte le record cette année (d'Antoni le fou quand même assez souvent sur le banc de manière incompréhensible : ce type est clairement un gros espoir, quitte a perdre autant le faire jouer), mais il a carrément le potentiel pour le battre à l'avenir. C'est peut etre le nouveau Peja, espérons pour lui qu'il soit moins loser et mons fragile

Défaite 118 - 104 contre le Magic d'Orlando à l'exterieur.
La bataille fut dure en première mi-temps où on avait déjà perdut 10 ballons, ne shootant qu'a 40% contre 60% pour ORL et pourtant on restait encore dans le coup..
Mais dans le 3ème Qt, on a pas resisté à la pluie de trois points d'Orlando qui en marquera la bagatelle de 8 ! ( 4 pour Mike et Lewis. ) Par contre Mike devrait rester concentré au lieu de faire un petit zouk après ses paniers à trois points, çà lui eviterait de marquer contre son camp sur un rebond defensif.
Sinon à l'interieur,on s'est fait éclaté par D12 et Bass qui a peut être fait son meilleur match de l'année avec 17pts.
ils cumulent fasse à nous 36pts à 13/19 & 13rbs 
De notre côté seul Gallinari surnage avec ses 20pts et Chandler malgrès une belle ligne de stat n'a pas pesé sur ce match, ratant bcp de shoot ouvert et scorant plus facilement dans le Bench Time où Toney Douglas s'est encore illustré avec 17pts 7/11fg & 2/5 à trois points 20minutes.
A quand dans le cinq à la place de Duhon ????
Par contre Nate Robinson, qui a marqué 22 points dans 4ème QT dans la victoire du Magic au Madison, n'a jamais vu le parquet dans ce match revanche. Aucune explication n'a été fournie

Victoire 126 - 99 contre les Suns de Phoenix à la maison
Elle fait bien plaisir cette victoire.
Un de nos matchs le plus aboutit cette année.
On a construit notre victoire avec une adresse à trois points remarquable flirtant avec les 50% (14/31)
Un gros premier Qt remporté 39 - 28 avant de gagner les trois suivants.
On a dominé au rebonds ( 50-40 ) et predu que 10TO.
On a toujours cherché l'extra passe, ce qui a fait la difference ce soir.
Gallinari a été magnifique encore une fois(27pts dont 20 en 1ère Mi-temps) et a prouvé qu'il était bien parmit les meilleurs shooteurs NBA.
Il se positionne aussi dans la course au M.I.P passant de 6.1pts 2.0rbs en 14Minutes en 08/09 à 14.2pts 4.8rbs en 27 minutes cette année.
Al a été une fois de plus decisif claquant 22pts en sortant du banc.
L.Hughes à la mène n'était pas mal signant 12pds.. Toujours mieux que Duhon qui a retrouvé son rang avec un joli 2/8fg

There was simply too much uncertainty for Steve Nash to wait till next summer, become a free agent and look at the Knicks as a possible new team.
Nash, the Suns' superstar point guard, signed an extension with Phoenix this offseason, ensuring he'll be there for two more years after this one and robbing the Knicks of a chance to add him to their summer shopping list alongside LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Nash, whose Suns will be at the Garden tonight, admitted yesterday he thought about holding off on the extension and seeing if he wanted to join his former coach, Mike D'Antoni, in New York.
But ultimately, Nash felt it was too risky not to re-up with the Suns.
"I definitely looked at it and considered playing it out and seeing what happened next summer. I just felt like there was just too much speculation over what could happen next summer," Nash said after practice in Manhattan. "There's too much speculation on so many things. Not just what opportunities that would be there for myself, but also a constricting [salary] cap.
"So you wait a summer and you go somewhere and they can't afford to sign a superstar and maybe you're stuck, so there was just too much speculation for me to give up an opportunity that I felt my allegiances were with -- my teammates, the organization -- and I felt like we had a project that we started on, and just because we had one bad year didn't mean you had to give up on it."
The 3-14 Knicks have lost five in a row heading into tonight's game with the 14-3 Suns, who have the league's best record. Nash remains their leader, averaging 16.4 points and 12.1 assists on the NBA's top-scoring offense (112 ppg). Suns coach Alvin Gentry, who was one of D'Antoni's Phoenix assistants, said, "To be honest with you, we're doing what Mike taught me."
While the Knicks are languishing, Nash insisted any criticism of D'Antoni is baffling to him.
"I think everyone knew when he signed to come [to New York] that they weren't world-beaters," Nash said. "I don't think anyone expected them to turn it around last year or this year." surtout pas ces charognards de JAZZ ! |

Défaite 114 - 102 contre le Magic d'Orlando au Madison.
Defaite logique à la maison face au premier de l'Est.
Howard nous passe son 11ème double double en 12 matchs face à nous avec 24 pts 8/9fg 16rbs.
Orlando shoot à 50% et nous rentre 13 trois points dont 5 pour Lewis.
Domination aux rebonds 47 à 37 pour le Magic.
De notre côté Lee est très bon en ce moment passant les 20pts et 10rbs sur 4 des 5 derniers matchs. (mais 5 défaites)
Quand à Nate il etait chaud bouillant hier soir mais juste dans le 4ème Qt où il passe 22 (11/17 fg) des 29pts des Knicks !
Nate tourne à 18.8pts à 37/64 fg & 14/27 à trois points sur les 5 derniers matchs.
Je dirait bien que son reveil nous fait du bien mais on prends 5 défaites sur cette serie de 5 matchs
Gallinari encore présent à trois points avec un jolie 4/5.
Il en est déjà à 48 paniers primés cette année soit une moyenne de 3/matchs ¨
Par contre Chandler decoit enormement cette année.
Du côté de nos starlettes Hughes est en vacance depuis quelques matchs avec 7pts de moyenne sur les 5 derniers matchset Al après son gros match contre Denver disparait complêtement face à Orlando avec seulement 9pts.
Sinon côté grosse nouvelle Duhon a fait son premier match de l'anné à 50%

Artest: Fans, media may keep free agents away from Knicks
LOS ANGELES -- Lakers forward Ron Artest thinks the Knicks may face a giant hurdle in July, 2010, saying players are "scared" of signing with the Knicks because of the pressure, fans and negative media coverage.
Artest also revealed he wanted to sign with the Knicks when he became a free agent July 1, but never got the call from his former boss, Knicks president Donnie Walsh.
The Queensbridge native and St. John's star always aspired to wear the orange and blue, but he feels most others don't have that dream. Besides superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the Knicks also have their eye on free agents Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson to sign with their league-high cap space.
In a morning shootaround rant at the Lakers complex, Artest told three New York writers, "I think people need to stop being scared and just go to New York. They're so scared of the pressure and the media. I'm like, pardon my language, but [bleep] the media and [bleep] everyone that's putting pressure on them.
"That's the one thing I hear from the players recently," added Artest, who signed with the Lakers in July. "People don't want to play in New York. They fear having a bad game, fear the fans. If somebody does go there, you got to be able to have a heart."
There has been a growing sentiment around the league that the Knicks could get shut out in July, partly because they may not have the supporting cast to lure a star.
"I think New York is an attractive place to play basketball," said Lakers legendary coach Phil Jackson, who was on the Knicks' last title team in 1973. "Do they have enough supporting cast to make it attractive for a free agent to come?"
Artest thinks James is built mentally to handle the NYC scrutiny. Artest hopes it happens, because he wants to face the Knicks for the championship.
"I know [LeBron] could," Artest said. "It's going to be huge. It would be a huge thing to see L.A. and New York in the championship. Someone's going to New York."
In their worst draft mistake in history, the Knicks bypassed Artest for Frederic Weis in 1999  , afraid Artest would crack under the pressure in New York despite being a N.Y. native.
"If I wanted to play for the Knicks, I wasn't going to feel pressure," Artest said. "People are scared to go there. You know how crazy it is in New York. The media, when you have a bad game, and that pressure gets to you. They got to be able to say, enough of this bull, I don't care what anyone thinks of me, don't care if even the fans boo. If you're losing, you got to be able to take that and play."
Walsh had the mid-level exception to offer Artest but they weren't interested in even that -- against giving long-term deals to protect their cap space. Walsh was Indiana's president during the infamous brawl when Artest charged into the stands.
"Of course," said Artest when asked if he wanted Walsh to call. "That's a no-brainer. I was pretty much waiting. Once I realized they weren't calling, I said, 'OK, it's not going to happen.' "
Artest signed a five-year deal with L.A. Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak called him at midnight on July 1.

Défaite 111 - 97 contre les Kings de Sacramento.
On tourne à 38% pour notre deuxième match d affilée pendant que les Kings tournent à 48%..
On balance 39 tirs à 3pts pour en mettre que 10 pendant que les Kings en shoots 27 pour en mettre 12,Dont un 6/7 pour le seul Dontae Green chaud hier soir et qui a sorti une grande defense sur Al en le contrant 4 fois ...
Côté Kings 7joueurs à plus de 10pts.
C'était un soir sans comme beaucoup en ce moment.
Seul rayon de soleil Nate qui semble retrouver son niveau en ce moment 25pts 10/16fg 4/5 à 3pts 5pds
Par contre depuis 3 matchs Al semble reculer de plus en plus derrière la ligne à trois points et ne pénètre plus.
Il en a shooté 22 poue en mettre 8 /3matchs.

Défaite 100 - 90 contre les Lakers à L.A
Et le score aurait put être pire ...
Un bon début de match et bon debut de 2ème Qt où l'on mène 42-41 , et après on coule..
On encaisse un 34-10 à cheval sur le 2ème et le 3ème QT.
Le coaching a été encore fantastique.
On a vraiment un gros problème,et il va falloir le régler si on veut avancer..
C'est pathétique.Il laisse Chandler alors qu'il est dans une soiréé vraiment sans 5/20 il sort gallinari alors qu'il mets 2/2 pour commencer le match et bien sure le top du top,il ne fait pas rentrer Harrington ( 20 minutes pour notre meillieur joueur).
Et la cerise, dans un match perdu d'avance à l'interieur il ne mets pas Curry( 5 minutes),qui aurait apporter un point de fixation et du poids pour essayer de contrer Bynum/Gasol qui nous ont pillonés inside.
4ème Qt Bench time pour NY et Titulaire pour L.A.. on, gagne le Qt .. et la rentrée de Douglas sur ce QT encore très bon avec 12pts 5/8 à 2/3 à 3pts en 16 minutes.
Nate fait enfin un bon match 15pts 5/11 à 4/5 à 3pts en sortie de banc.
L.A a laisser ses titulaires bien longtemps par contre .. On devait leurs faire peur
Pour info Duhon : 6.4pts 24%fg (26/108) 20% à 3pts (11/55) 6.2pds< ( et toute cette merde en 35 minutes !

Je suis d'accord sur son impact ses prises de positions..Il nous fait du bien c'est un vrai interieur, on en a besoin. Mais il nous ralentit et dans le jeu Run & Gun (& no defense )de D'Antoni il est à peine arriver en attaque que c'est finit ... à voir.
Sa présence permet de décaler Al en 3 et Lee en 4,çà c'est bien.
Enfin,c'est pas Ewing non plus, je le sais bien
Son geste est dommage j suis d'accords avec toi..

Pas d'accord, il a été plutôt bon je trouve, en attaque il a bien bouger ses vis a vis.
Il pète un plomb avec son coup de poing dans le dos de Rondo, mais sans ça, il reste sur le terrain et je pense que les Knicks l'emporte. |
